Oip5os1, also known as 1700020I14Rik, OIP5-AS1, and Cyrano, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) [4]. It is broadly expressed across multiple tissues, with significant enrichment in the nervous system, skeletal muscle, and striated muscles [4]. It has regulatory functions in normal cellular processes such as cell proliferation and survival [4].

In male mice with diabetes, deletion of Oip5os1 leads to left atrial dysfunction, myopathy, anesthesia intolerance, and premature death. This is associated with a reduction in the metabolic regulator ERRalpha and a trend for a reduction in Serca2a in the atria of knockout (KO) mice compared to wild-type (WT) mice [1].
