Cd209b-KO Mouse

Cd209b, also known as SIGNR1, is a C-type lectin receptor expressed on various cells such as antigen-presenting cells (APCs), microglia, and liver sinusoidal endothelial cells. It plays crucial roles in multiple biological processes including immune responses, pathogen-host interactions, and macrophage polarization. It is involved in pathways related to bacterial dissemination, clearance of pathogens, and regulation of inflammation [1,2,3].

In gene-related studies, mice lacking SIGNR1 (Cd209b) showed increased susceptibility to Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) infection, indicating that Cd209b contributes to the clearance of UPEC during urinary tract infections [2]. In experimental colitis, SIGNR1-deficient mice had reduced susceptibility to the disease, with decreased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, suggesting its role in regulating inflammation [4].

In conclusion, Cd209b is essential in pathogen-host interactions and immune regulation. Studies using Cd209b-deficient mouse models have revealed its significance in urinary tract infections and experimental colitis, providing insights into disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets related to these conditions.
